Suburban camp as a means of developing social integration of children with disabilities
UHLÍKOVÁ, Barbora
The diploma thesis deals with the topic of integration of children with special educational needs in general, in educational system and leisure activities. From leisure activities, was chosen the theme of a suburban summer camp. The theoretical part deals with free time and possibilities of leisure activities, before 1989 and after 1989. It also describes the possibilities of integration of children with disabilities and examines the question: "What are the opportunities / possibilities of integration of children with special educational needs into society? " The practical part describes the suggestion, preparation and implementation of a five-day suburban camp project for six children divided in two groups. There was one child with special educational needs in each group: in the first group, there was a boy with Down syndrome; in the second group, a boy in a wheelchair. The project was exacting but successful. In addition to the camp project, in the practical part there is a chapter deals with interviews with parents or close children, who were involved at this camp and also with a volunteer from Salesians who have experience with the integration of children with special educational needs.
The Meaning of Staying Disabled Childern outside of Family
KOCINOVÁ, Nikola
The subject of this thesis are the home-away stays for disabled kids. These are primarily summer camps with special needs, that are organized by, for example, various non-profit institutions, schools, clubs etc. and are the popular part of the summer holiday. Secondarly it is about the relieving stays, that are part of the social services according to the article 44 of the law no. 108/2006 about social services, that functions so the caregivers can have a rest. In the practical part we will find the results of the research, whose goal was to find out what the meaning of the home-away stays is in the context of the family coexistence. The partial goal is to examine what importance the stay has on a particular individual with a particular type of disability. Three explorational questiones were raised within the research. They aimed for the finding out in which areas the stays are beneficial to the disabled kids, how they feel about the home-away stays and how the parents feel. To get the goal acomplished a qualitive technique was used. Its base was an explorational method of questioning, the technique of semi-structured dialogue with the kid's parents and the kids themselves. After that, their responses were processed with use of the open-coding technique. Afterwards the categorization of the data was executed. The results show that the home-away stays are beneficial not only to the kids but also to the parents. The kids learn how to be more indepenent, sociable and communicative. The parents, on the other hand, can choose what they want to do with their free time. This thesis can serve as an informative material for other parents, that have a disabled kid and think about the home-away stay. Additionally it can also serve as the feedback to the institutions providing these stays. Key words: disability, family, summer camps, relieving stays
Optimizing the distribution of participants in summer camps
Hlavenka, Vojtěch ; Kuncová, Martina (advisor) ; Skočdopolová, Veronika (referee)
The aim of the thesis is the mathematical model, which is capable to divide participants of large summer camps into groups, according to specific limitations. The first part describes the economics model and all valid conditions. The second part is devoted to theoretical description. There are mentioned the basics of mathematical programming and the basic of working with Excel and VBA. The thesis describes only actually used methods. The following third part shows the final form of the model. So the reader doesn´t have to go through the whole process, described in the fourth part. There is a model testing in the fourth part, especially with the help of the Excel Solver. The problems are sold immediately. That is the reason why the fifth part can be used for implementation of working environment, which allows the end user to run the model without any significant knowledge of the issue. The app uses the wide possibilities of VBA. The sixth part briefly describes other add-ins, that are able to solve mathematical problem. The conclusion summarizes all the previous parts and offeres solution, that would be used in real application of the thesis.
Summer camps and their specificity for children with visual impairment
JANOUŠKOVÁ, Martina
This bachelor thesis discusses summer camps and their specifics for children with visual impairment. The aim of this thesis is to provide a comparison between special summer camps and summer camps that enable integration in a ralationship to children with visual impairment. To achieve this goal, I collected the advantages and disadvantages and the specifics that follows from them. This issues is discussed from the position of the organizers, the heads of the summer camps and also from the position of children with visual impairment that took part in researched summer camps, alternatively from the position of their parents. Besides this I also mentioned the view of intact children taking part in a summer camp that enables integration. To accomplish the aim of this thesis, I used a qualitative type of research. The data was discovered by the method of personal asking: the technique of an interview with open questions. To evaluate the interviews I used the induction method: Firstly, I went in the field to acquire the information. Than I compared the information with other ones that I obtained from other people. The results of this thesis serve as a summary of things that are specific for a given type of summer camp and also of things that are important to take into consideration during selecting a suitable summer either selected by parents and their children or by the organizers. This thesis describes many of concrete imperfections that can occur during the summer camps but it also describes many of the advantages that provide summer camps for children with visual impairment with their parents but it deals with this problem under the terms of a summer camp that provides the integration also with intact children or leaders. Concerning the summer camps for children with visual impairment, the research comes with a statement that firstly, it is necessary to focus on a selection of suitable area where will the summer camp take place and it is also necessary to focus on communication between the leader and the parents in order to mutually gain enough information requiered for intergration under the condition of cooperation between parents and camp leaders with each other. I tis also important to ensure a qualite assistant that will be able to good and meaningfully fill the time of a child with visual impairmentin in case of him/her not being able to participate in some of the summer camp's programme. The same situation arrives in the case of special summer camp: it needs specific preparation considering the selection of suitable area and schedule-making. Thanks to the fact that the organizers of this type of summer camps are usually some organizations engaging in this issue, this type of summer camps do not need a personal assistant necessarily. Parents feel safe because their child is provided with quality professional care and children have an opportunity to come in contact with children of the same age that have the same or similar problems. Another big advantage of special summer camps is an rehearsal or improvement of abilities that make the life of a person with visual impairment much easier. Chapter five, the discussion, compares particular areas of the research that involve: the preparation of a summer camp, the awareness of the members from the team, integration of the child into the group, the schedule of the summer camp and natural environment of the camp, assistance, communication and the fear of the participants of some new experience. The end of chapter six, the conclusion, discusses some considerations about improvement of present situation in the field of summer capms for children with visual impairment.
